Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone…Live in Concert!
8 years ago / in Bliss
So, here I am talking about Harry Potter in another post. I’m not sorry about it.
A couple weeks ago, I read online that the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra was going to play the soundtrack of Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone live (yes, it has always & will always be the PHILOSOPHER’S Stone), set to the movie that would be playing on the big screen. Even though I have seen the first movie probably more times than I can count, I am a sucker for the young, baby-faced trio of Radcliffe, Grint & Watson. So, when the orchestra decided to run a second night, I counted down the minutes & bought tickets as soon as they went on sale.
The show was being put on at the Orpheum downtown Vancouver, which was built in 1927, is a National Historic Site of Canada & is one of the most beautiful concert halls in North America. The theatre feels very Hogwarts-esque & was very fitting for the event.^^ admiring the theatre with a little pre-show gin & tonic.
The music was amazing…so good that I kept having to remind myself that there was a live orchestra playing! Although I enjoyed it that much more because it was Harry Potter, I would recommend a live concert/theatre experience to anyone! I heard rumours that there might be an Indiana Jones performance happening, so if anyone in the Vancouver area is interested, keep your eye on the VSO.
Now, excuse me as I bury myself again in “The Cursed Child”. It’s been a day & I’m not finished yet…so I’m already behind schedule.
